Why does the Royals want to publicize their wedding over here in the states?

I'm in the US,born & raised,so I don't quite get a "monarchy" i guess. why are they showing so much about the royal wedding over here? we're american's,are we supposed to be interested? or care? why does it seem it's getting shoved down our throats? we came to this land to get away from all that,so why does it matter what the royals do to us? don't get me wrong,i'm happy for them & wish them well,but i'd wish anyone well,whether their royal or not. is it just the "celebrity" surrounding them or what? sorry if this sounds harsh,i'm not asking out of anger or anything,i'm just coming out and asking. do they still want the US to revere them or be part of them? do they still want our attention & to treat us like "subjects" or something?
